We arrived here today for a spot of lunch. I ordered our drinks and went and sat down to look through the menu. Went back to the bar and ordered and paid for our food, I was not informed of any delay in serving up at all, so there we sat for fifty minutes, and there was very few people in the pub. We had by this time only ten minutes left on our parking ticket so I went to the bar for a refund and explained that we had to leave and the woman went to the kitchen and when she returned said ' your food wont be long now, do you want to take it with you ? ' !!! NO, we have to leave. Anyhow a refund was given and we wont be goin back, this spoiled our whole day. We did speak to a couple of tables on the way out and they were also going to ask for refunds.

I have just visited this pub pleasant staff ordered sweet potato chips came quickly were hot I eat at one of the sister pubs of Holts in glossop there portion was smaller very good pub also 2 people bringing food out to other customers meaning the food arrives quickly.

It's surprisingly good. Nice environment. Clean. We had small plates & sides at lunch. Tasty meatballs, dumplings, and chicken wings with fries. Good service. Dogs welcome. Clean toilets. Parking on site, although we parked in the main supermarket car park nearby (about 5 mins walk). Highly recommended. We will return!

Cold wet day popped in and ordered 2 hot chocolates. Seemed a long wait but delighted with the red cups containing good standard of hot chocolate. Competitively priced. Browsed menu and will probably go in for lunch another time.

The weekend Carvery is lovley, fresh veg lots of it a choice of 3 meets, a deceptive large pub inside 2 bars and a Carvey section. Main meals also available every day. Try it you will like it.

3 of us nipped in for late lunch yesterday. The choice of food was vast and the service was excellent. The staff were very knowledgeable and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The food was amazing and our dietary requirements were met.
So it's a quick thank you from 3 of us, we will be back.

Lovely pub with lots of cosy seating areas. Not a huge selection of ales but decent enough. Large menu and the food was quite good.

Came in today waited for morrocan chicken kebab.. they brought me a lamb one. Then asked for it to be changed to a chicken one. They did but the chicken looked raw so didn't touch it. So I asked for a refund to which they refused. So I payed for a meal I couldn't eat with no sympathy from staff. I Do not recommend rude staff shit food

Extremely Disappointing Dining Experience
I had dinner at The Railway at Buxton on a Saturday evening around 7pm, expecting a pleasant weekend dining experience. Unfortunately, it turned out to be highly disappointing. Upon browsing the menu, I found that several items I wanted to order, including steak, beef burgers, and lamb skewers, were unavailable. In fact, nearly one-third of the menu—both starters and main courses—was not being served.
There were no signs or notices at the entrance to inform customers of the unavailable items, which I found both unprofessional and misleading. It’s unacceptable for a restaurant to run out of so many items during peak hours on a weekend night, when customer expectations are naturally higher.
When the food finally arrived, the quality was mediocre at best—far from the standard I anticipated. This added to my frustration, as the available options were already limited.
Overall, the lack of transparency, poor preparation, and average food quality made this dining experience very disappointing. I felt compelled to share this review, along with photos of the menu and food, to warn others. I sincerely hope the restaurant addresses these issues and improves both its inventory management and overall dining experience. Until then, I cannot recommend this place to anyone looking for a reliable and enjoyable meal in Buxton!!!!

Had a lovely Christmas dinner with family, the food was delicious, especially the carvery, so many choices! The atmosphere was relaxed and the service was great. We really enjoyed it and are planning on booking for next year soon as.
